Hello! I’m Megan Wills, the Youth Services Library Assistant at the Ritzville Carnegie Library, where I once borrowed many books as a child growing up in Lind. I’m excited to support young readers now. My main role involves engaging the community’s youth through resources, books, and activities. Upon starting, I noticed a lack of cohesive marketing for our youth programs, so I prioritized rebranding and creating tailored marketing strategies for them. The new programs included High School Night, Middle School Night, and an expanded Preschool program. High School Night offers monthly activities like game night and craft night for high school students. Middle School Night follows a similar format for middle schoolers. The expanded preschool program features storytelling and activities focusing on letter association, colors, and fine motor skills.
We have an exciting line up of programs scheduled for this month. The preschool will celebrate Groundhog Day with a themed event on the 3rd, followed by a Valentine’s Day party on the 10th and a celebration of Black History month on the 24th.
Crafternoon, our all-ages craft day, will focus on creating Valentine’s cards for loved ones. Middle school Craft Night is set for the 6th, while High School Craft Night will take place on the 20th.
Our Book Club for children aged 8-12 will engage in a discussion of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” and his poetry on the 13th. Additionally, the Lego Club will host a Free Play session on the 19th. We will conclude the month with a Movie Matinee featuring the film “Wild Robot” (PG). Our library staff is eager to welcome you to any (or all) of these programs.
