Program Updates
Hello, Library
Patrons!
Can you believe it's already September?
After a successful Summer Reading Program, we're excited to introduce new
programs and get back to our beloved clubs. As the Youth Librarian, I'm working
hard to ensure that we meet all the community’s needs and expectations with our
youth library programs.
I want to make you aware of some
changes this year, but don't worry—your favorite programs will still be
returning!
First is our
most beloved program, Preschool Storytime. I’m pleased to announce it will
continue every Monday at 10:00 a.m. starting September 8, 2025. This year, we
are launching a thoughtfully designed, simple
curriculum that focuses on teaching foundational concepts to our
youngest learners. For the first few weeks, our focus will be on the ABCs,
counting 123s, and identifying basic shapes. We will have engaging stories,
playful activities, and interactive lessons planned to help your little ones
develop essential early learning skills. We can't wait to share this exciting
journey with your early learners!
Another returning favorite,
Crafternoon, made its return on September 3rd at 4:00 p.m. with a fun and
creative bracelet painting craft! I am excited to provide unique art
experiences that balance fun with a slight challenge. By introducing various
art mediums, I hope to inspire creativity and encourage children to express
themselves artistically.
Poised to return on September 11, with
a Welcome Party at 4:00 p.m., PageTurners Book Club remains one of my favorite
offerings. Kids, ages 8-12, have a chance to pick up their complimentary copy
of “Holes” by Louis
Sachar, an exciting novel perfect for sparking discussion. Enjoy delicious
snacks while connecting with fellow book lovers and participating in lively
conversations about your favorite characters and themes.
We will continue our discussion of
“Holes” at the next PageTurners meeting in October, so be sure to mark your
calendars!
Back with some changes, Homeschool
Hangout returns on September 16th. This year we will be placing extra emphasis
on providing valuable resources and support for our homeschooling families. We
aim to create a welcoming environment where families can access our library
materials and receive assistance with their homeschooling endeavors. If you
have any suggestions, ideas, or specific needs, please do not hesitate to reach
out to us at 509-659-1222, @eastadamslibrary
or at www.ritzvillelibrary.org. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
Lego Club is scheduled to return on
September 17th and will kick off the year with a free build session! Children
will have the opportunity to unleash their imaginations as they build and
create with our extensive collection of Legos, fostering creativity and
teamwork in a fun atmosphere.
Additionally, Movie Matinee makes its
way back on September 24th with a screening of Despicable Me 4! Kids, bring
your parents or adult to the library,
where we will provide fresh, delicious popcorn for everyone to enjoy while
watching the movie. It’s a great way to relax and have fun with friends and
family.
Last but certainly not least- we are
thrilled to reintroduce our beloved classic program, Gamerz Night! Starting
September 25th at 4:00 p.m., kids will have the chance to come together and
play games on our new computers or our Nintendo Wii. Whether they're fans of
Minecraft, Roblox, or other popular games, this will be a perfect opportunity
for them to socialize, collaborate, and have fun gaming with their peers. We
will also be offering board games and card games from time to time.
Thank you so much for your unwavering
support of all our Youth Programs. It fills me with joy and pride to serve as
your Youth Librarian. I recently celebrated my first
anniversary at our beautiful library, and I have learned an immense amount
during this time. I am eager to apply all the knowledge I've gained this past
year to enhance our programs and provide the best possible experience for the
youth of our community.
Warm regards,
Ms. Megan
